Your first legal consultation: how to prepare and what to expect

A well-prepared first consultation saves time and gives you, from the outset, a clear picture of your legal situation.

What documents to prepare

Bring the main documents related to your situation: contracts, relevant correspondence (including emails), notices, official reports or decisions you have received. There is no need to pre-select "what matters" — we review them together and decide whether anything else is needed.

Questions worth asking

  • What are my options and what does each one involve?
  • What are the risks, and how long might things take?
  • What costs does each course of action involve?
  • Can the matter be resolved without going to court?

How the meeting goes

We discuss the facts, identify the relevant legal issues and outline a direction. At the end you receive a realistic assessment and a transparent cost estimate — no promises that cannot be legally sustained.

After the consultation

Where appropriate, we prepare the agreed steps and keep you updated on the progress of each stage. If the matter can be resolved simply, we tell you so.
